Pleasanton is a city in Alameda County that was incorporated in 1894. Located 25 miles east of Oakland, its neighboring cities are Livermore, Dublin, and San Ramon. Known as one of the “wealthiest” and top 10 “Best Cities to Live In”, Pleasanton experienced its economic boom in the early 1980s when it started developing business parks. Now housing many major companies such as Oracle, Kaiser Permanente, Safeway, Cisco Systems, and EMC Corporation, to name a few.
The city holds numerous events that constantly bring the community together. Home to numerous tradeshows and community events, the Alameda County Fairgrounds is located in the city of Pleasanton, where the annual Alameda County Fair has been held since 1912. Aside from the numerous celebrations held in the fairgrounds the city holds many festivities in its quaint, rustic downtown, lined with boutique stores, salons, cafes, and a diverse selection of restaurants. It holds its weekly Farmer’s Market off Main Street every Saturday, Friday Concerts in the Park series that kicks off from June until September each year, and annual city parades celebrating holidays like 4th of July, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas/Holidays, etc.

Pleasanton has the Pleasanton Unified School District. Both of its high schools, Amador Valley and Foothill, are ranked amongst the top 400 Public High Schools in the nation. Overall the city’s education system is ranked high, making it a desirable place for families focusing on high-quality education to settle in.
